7 Exfoliation Tips

Your skin is your largest organ of your body. Biologically, our skin is our first line of defense. Culturally, skin defines much of our standard for beauty. Bright, youthful skin signals health and vitality. And, like every part of our bodies, skin responds to care and attention. Proper treatment can revitalize skin and slow the aging process, keeping skin healthier, longer. The difference between neglected and pampered skin is incredible — once you experience the joy of supple, breathable skin, you’ll be hooked.

If your facial skin has a dull, pasty look, an exfoliating treatment will help you look younger. Here are some tips for facial and body exfoliations:

  • Be extra careful with the delicate skin of your face.
  • It’s easy to over exfoliate. Talk to our esthetician and/or massage therapist about the product and frequency that is best for your skin. Your should be especially cautious if you have sensitive or aging skin.
  • Be careful not to overdo microdermabrasion on your face. It can make thin, aging skin even thinner if you get too many treatments too quickly.
  • Don’t over exfoliate, especially in summer or in very sunny climates. It’s easier for your skin to be damaged by the sun after exfoliating.
  • Never use body scrubs on the face. They are too aggressive.
  • You can use a body scrub once or twice a week on your body without damaging the skin.
  • Body brushing every morning is a gentle way to exfoliate.

The Spa at Fearrington has several facials and body exfoliation treatments to put you on the path to a healthier skin plan. Call The Spa at 919.545.5723 today to book a treatment and learn about the best treatment options for your skin.

New Year, New Garden?

Actually, to a gardener in the South, that's a bit of a fantasy. With so many sunny and pleasant winter days outside, the garden never really does get "put to rest." Tools don't quite make it to storage in the tool shed well-oiled and cleaned, and the gardener herself only has a few indoor days by the fire to contemplate next year's seed catalogs. For the many of us who would gladly exchange a long winter nap for the chance to smell flowers and feel warm sunshine on our backs in January,... Full Post >
