Spiced Apple is Back!

As the air turns cool and the autumn leaves start to change with their majestic colors, we turn our thoughts to all things fall! Bountiful harvests of beautiful fall delights come to mind — bushels of apples, crisp and juicy, brown sugar, and sweet cinnamon create a wonderful recipe for luxurious Spiced Apple spa treatments.

We are excited to bring back the Spiced Apple spa treatments at The Spa at Fearrington. With autumn in mind, now is the time to prepare your skin and nails for the next season.  Exfoliation is a wonderful way to shed the summer effects on your skin. A 60 or 90 minute blissful Spiced Apple Exfoliation will help your skin to feel refreshed, moisturized and nourished.  We are offering a 30 minute Spiced Apple Manicure and a 45 minute Spiced Apple Pedicure as well.

These seasonal treatments are sure to delight your aromatic senses. The Spiced Apple Exfoliation will first start with a cup of hot Apple Cider to set the mood for the season. Your journey begins with a light body brushing to prepare your skin for the Spiced Apple Sugar Scrub exfoliation to follow. Next, indulge yourself with the Spiced Apple Body Wash to cleanse and prepare for a full body massage with Spiced Apple Shea Butter Body Crème. This treatment will leave your skin nourished, moisturized and ready for fall.

Did you know that your skin is the largest organ in the body and is also the most dynamic? Our skin is never exactly the same from day to day. The skin’s surface — all 2 square yards (1.7 square meters) of it — is constantly sloughing off dead cells so that new, living cells can move up from the lower layer and make us look younger, smoother and more glowing. Sugar scrubs are non-abrasive and can be used frequently. They help to restore and moisturize the skin. Sugar is a humectant, which means it cannot draw moisture out of the skin.

Apples are a great conditioner and toner for your skin. They have amazing skin-healing powers and have been used as a beauty aid for centuries. Apple contains Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Both of these vitamins are very good for skin health. They repair the damaged skin cells and remove dead ones.

Increasing your blood circulation has a number of health benefits as well. Increasing the blood flow to your skin also means increasing the amount of nutrients your skin receives. Cinnamon stimulates and warms the skin and thus is used in massage products to help heat and relax tired muscles.

Shea butter is an outstanding skin moisturizer as well as skin conditioning relief and wound healing properties. There are several natural moisturizers in Shea butter that no other natural moisturizer can match. These moisturizers are very similar to sebum, the oil produced by our skin’s sebaceous glands. Shea Butter contains fatty acids as well as a high concentration of Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin F. These are some of the most important vitamins for maintaining healthy skin.

All three new treatments include the sugar exfoliation with the aromatic Spiced Apples, the Spiced Apple Wash and the healing, moisturizing properties of the Shea Butter.  Take time for yourself today and call to set up your Spiced Apple experience at The Spa at Fearrington. These treatments will be available for a limited time from October to December. Come start the autumn season with us!

Q&A with Emanuel Fresko of Crea Concept

We sat down with Emanuel Fresko, who will be representing Crea Concept at their trunk show at Dovecote this Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th, to tell us a little about Aisha Gunel, the Turkish designer for this fabulous collection. What has been the inspiration this season? While Italy gave her [Aisha] inspiration on the elegant classics, France aided her in creativity and playfulness , if you mix those two influences to the middle eastern one in which she lives and... Diane & Dina

Diane and Dina tied the knot on April 19, 2014. They said their, "I dos" under the Willow Oaks and danced the night away in the Fearrington Barn! How did you and Dina meet? We met starting new jobs on December 31, 1988 in Winston-Salem at Wachovia Bank. We were being processed in HR and Dina asked Diane if she was nervous starting a new job. We were both new to Winston-Salem and did not know anyone in town. After multiple attempts, Dina was finally able to persuade Diane to come over... Full Post >
