A Peek Under My Desk

Last week I unexpectedly got a fancy new phone with all the kinds of fancy new bells and whistles that come with fancy new phones.

When I finally had a chance to look at it after the weekend, I found an app called “Health” that apparently tracks how many steps you take in a day. I had often wondered what a typical wedding day adds up to with the walking (or running) here and there . . .

I am somewhat amazed to report that I covered almost 15 miles on Saturday! That’s more than a half marathon, right? Now I understand why after a weekend of weddings I need a breather on Mondays.

It’s always a pleasure to ensure our brides are having the best “big day” possible! I think it’s fair to say that we always go the extra mile for our brides!

Gift Guide – Avant-Garde Beauty

We love that Dovecote Style has become a boutique that holds fashion for the conservative and those who love to take a fashion risk or two! For the avant-garde beauty, the woman who takes chances with her wardrobe, we have closet staples with a twist. Some of our favorite designers, such as Anarkh Designs and Elemente Clemente excel in taking clothing essentials and making them chic pieces. Think suiting with leather details, fabulous leather leggings, textured midi-length skirts and... Full Post >

Cheers to Thanksgiving

Turkey season is upon us once again, and for those of us who would rather not slave away in the hot kitchen making a dish to bring to the family dinner this year, the gift of wine seems much more appropriate!  Very little is more appropriate than Beaujolais Nouveau for Thanksgiving, as it is an extremely fresh wine whose flavors and structure (body, acidity, alcohol, etc.) make a perfect match for turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and the like.  Pick up a bottle of JOSEPH... The Berries of Autumn

Long after foliage and flowers have succumbed to the cold, winter-berrying plants fill our gardens with excitement and beauty. The mild, temperate climate of the Carolina Piedmont provides ideal growing conditions for a wide variety of trees and shrubs bearing winter fruit -- many of them native! Here at Fearrington, the gardeners have incorporated numerous types of winter-berrying plants into beds throughout the Village. We love them for their individual beauty and design possibilites, as... Caroline & Dan

Caroline and Dan tied the knot on September 20, 2014. These newlyweds said their "I dos" under the Crab Apples, and danced the night away in the Fearrington Barn. How did you and your partner meet? Caroline and I met each other during our sophomore year at UNC-Chapel Hill. Although we both lived in the same residence hall, we first met each other at a meeting for our study abroad program - we both studied abroad in Germany during our Spring semester. After seeing Caroline a few times, I... Full Post >

Transformation Tuesday

We have a guest model this Tuesday, all the way from California. To highlight that cool California style, we pulled together two different looks for this west coast beauty. For our first look we paired the timeless Stonington shirt from P. Taylor in olive green with this breathtaking wire mesh belt from Sarah Cavender. This belt defines statement piece, made from metal mesh that you can wear around your waist or as a wrap around your shoulders. Our featured model  repurposed a Kinross... Full Post >
