The Perfect Final Touch

The holidays are drawing ever closer and if you’re still looking for another way to enjoy the holiday celebrations this year, we have just the thing!

We asked Fearrington’s Wine Director Maxmilian Kast if there was one wine he thought encompassed the holidays best – he had so many favorites, he told us it might take him till next Christmas to choose! We are happy to share the wine he thought best embodied the holidays this year, Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge Cuvée Classic.

“My wine that encompasses the holidays is would be the Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge Cuvée Classic. It was one of the first wines I bought for Christmas in my early years as a Sommelier, and the scents and flavors of that wine from the first time I tasted it remain with me like it was yesterday.

It is a blend of about 70% Mourvedre with Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan. It is a blend of the estates single vineyards, and is made in a traditional way with ambient yeasts, and fermentation and aging in large oak barrels.

I still remember those first smells of the wine bright red plum, fresh cassis, blackberry, leather, pine needle, the aromatics of the wine was so complex. I decanted it for six hours and just spent a whole evening enthralled by the wine, the holidays, and family.  It is still one of my favorite wines for the holidays.”

Enjoy a bottle of this perfect holiday wine at The Fearrington House Restaurant this holiday season and share the holiday cheer with loved ones. Happy Holidays from Fearrington!
