The Fearrington Granary, The Fearrington House Inn, Wine

We are super excited to have Diane Flynt, cider-maker and apple farmer extraordinaire, joining us for a class at The Fearrington Granary on Thursday, September 3rd at 5:30pm. Diane is one of the best producers of dry fermented apple ciders in the United States. She makes a wide range of ciders from heirloom apple to crab apple varieties all grown on her farm in Dugspur, Virginia. Diane has become a point person for many of us in the Sommelier world for information on apple farming, cider production and the history of cider-making. She is, in terms of cider, the “Wise one on the mountain.”
As many of you know, cider is one of the original beverages of America. While beer, wine, and spirits took over in popularity through-out the twentieth century, the world of high quality American ciders looked bleak. While other traditional cider producing countries like Spain, France and England still continued their traditions of artisan ciders, there were few and far between to be found in the United States. Over the past few years though Americans have rediscovered their love for the nectar of the apple. Cider sales have have grown at unheard of rates, 71% in 2014 alone. We have a new found love for our all-American beverage, and we owe a lot of that to the modern-day pioneers of the industry, people like Diane.
Diane, loves to get people excited about cider, and this class will be a real treat. She will bring just picked apples and pressed cider from her farm, and of course we will taste both through her whole line-up. Don’t miss out, this will be a one of kind tasting. More details here and call 919.542.2121 to reserve!

We were excited to catch up with JoAnn Doxakis, for ZoWee, before her trunk show at Dovecote on Friday, August 21st and Saturday, August 22nd. Here is what she shared with us about her exquisite collection!
What has been your inspiration this season?
Texture. The organic feel of outdoors inspires me, so many colors and textures for all seasons. The culture of vacation spots I’ve visited is truly an inspiration, and places I haven't yet visited, only in photos is still inspiring to me.... Full Post >
Our love for fall is fairly evident here at Dovecote. Cashmere sweaters, streamlined leggings, cozy scarves, lots of layers . . . fall fashion is definitely our favorite.
Pairing these pieces with boots is only natural! Ankle boots with a knit dress and opaque tights is a look we love. A knee-high boot with skinny pants and an oversized sweater? Autumnal perfection!
Daniella Lehavi's boots come to us from Israel. They are handmade with the highest quality leather. We've loved her... Full Post >
Fearrington Weddings, Real Weddings
Sara and Scott tied the knot on April 25, 2015. These newlyweds said their "I dos" at the Garden Terrace, and danced the night away in the Fearrington Barn.
Tell us about the engagement?
Our engagement took us on a journey in logistics, which in turn required two attempts for Scott to get to “pop the question.” On the first attempt, Scott had the plan and pieces all in place. However, the universe had its own agenda in mind that evening. Essentially, all Scott needed was for their... Full Post >
Here at Dovecote, we love to build a look. It's like a puzzle - challenging, but fun and so satisfying once we've completed it. Each member of our style team builds different looks, dependent on the client and the stylist's own personal outlook on fashion.
Featured here is a look from our newest Dovecote Stylist Cassie. She's taken a simple washable silk top from Go Silk and paired it with the Milo pant from Equestrian Designs in Cornbread. We love the navy and yellow together, so chic!... Full Post >
