Cecily & Bryce

Cecily and Bryce tied the knot on June 18, 2016. These newlyweds said their “I do”s under the Crab Apples and danced the night away in The Barn!

How did you and your partner meet?
Our families have mutual friends who decided to play matchmaker with us. Even after several nudges, Bryce continued to put off emailing me until they started bugging his sister and she made him get in touch so they would leave her alone. We met for drinks at a bar on New Year’s Day and talked for three hours. I think after our first date we both knew we would be seeing much more of each other.

Tell us about the engagement?
Bryce and I flew out to California to visit my sister’s family right before my 28th birthday. I asked him a few times what he would like to do out there and all he would say was “go on a hike.” On our first full day, my sister and brother-in-law both took the day off and we all went hiking in Bolinas. On the way back, we passed a spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean and my sister asked to take a photo of us. As I turned back, Bryce got down on his knee and proposed. We all sat down to celebrate with a picnic and a surprise bottle of champagne Scott had been carrying in his backpack. The next day, Bryce and I left for Calistoga and toasted many more glasses to our new engagement.

What made Fearrington the place for you to say “I do?’
My dad and uncle both grew up in North Carolina and went to UNC for school. I have always loved the area and thought it would be a fun place for our guests to enjoy the weekend. I found Fearrington on a wedding blog shortly before we were engaged and knew I wanted to visit during our venue search. It ended up being the perfect mix of a relaxed but incredibly beautiful venue with the bonus of having many in-house services. Once I met Gilda, I knew the planning process would be much easier with her expert guidance. Our actual wedding day was a dream because of Gilda and the Fearrington team – we did not have to worry about a thing! She handled everything beautifully, from checking in that morning to our sparkler exit. All we had to do was enjoy the celebration!

Describe the highlight moment of your wedding day.
I wanted to do a first look while Bryce is more traditional and wanted to see me for the first time as I walked down the aisle. I let him have that one since I made so many other decisions for the wedding. Despite my nerves right before we rounded the corner, it was easily the most special moment of the day. I couldn’t stop smiling as I walked up to Bryce and seeing his expression is a memory I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

Anything you want to add about your wedding story?
All we would add is another huge thank you to everyone at Fearrington for giving our guests and us such an amazing experience! We still regularly hear from friends and family how wonderful the day was – the venue, food, flowers, everything. If we did the day over again, we honestly wouldn’t change a thing. Gilda, Mary, Paola, and the whole Fearrington team truly care about giving their couples the best experience possible. We couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else.
