Betty Schabacker is an artist of some measure, to say the least. Her work has been displayed in galleries all over the country. She is known for her paintings and watercolors, but especially for her collages.
Fearrington is lucky enough to have her collage work on display through November at The Fearrington Granary, and we are thoroughly enjoying the colors and textures that make up these paintings full of animals and abstract ephemera. My personal favorite, “Aslan,” is a painting named of course for the majestic cat of The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe. And then there are the collages that bring to mind Betty’s time in the southwest, shades of oranges, blues, and greens that evoke the sunbaked desert that seems to have inspired her work.
See them for yourself. A reception to celebrate her work will be held on Tuesday, November 5th from 6-8pm. Stop by to enjoy a glass of wine and take in the scenery. Learn more about Betty Schabacker by visiting her website: http://bettybschabacker.com/
