Bark in the Winter Garden

Late winter is the perfect time to take a closer look at tree bark and the beauty it adds to the winter landscape. Here in the Gardens, we have a stunning variety of trees clothed in ornamental bark. These are a few of the stunning specimens to be found on a winter walk through the gardens.

  • “Fantasy” Crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia faurei)
  • Japanese Black Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica ‘Yoshino’)
  • And Persian Ironwood (Parrotia persica)
