Spring Peonies by the Fire

It’s rare that you get to enjoy Spring's glorious peonies beside a roaring fire, but this weekend’s cool spell gave us such a nice opportunity.  When the temperature dropped and the clouds threatened, we quickly moved the garden ceremony into the Garden Terrace.  Tori and Zack got to celebrate a beautiful spring ceremony in front of a cozy wood fire.  It was lovely.  It’s such a relief it is that we don’t have to worry a bit about what the weather may bring to our outdoor... April Showers

April was a glorious month for weddings – 70 degrees and no April Showers...until April 28th. We had a rainy day that Sunday, but I am happy to report that the weather didn't dampen anyone’s spirits! We always work with a good alternate weather plan, so that day we moved into the Garden House for Kirsti and Scott’s beautiful wedding.  After being together for 14 years now, the happy married couple skipped down the aisle to the tune of “Here Comes the Sun” and headed out... April at the Crabapple Trees

I am asked all the time what my favorite ceremony site is, and I honestly say that I like them all best at different times, depending on what the gardens are doing.  Our gardens are fabulous all the time, but each week one of them seems to have its special moment right then. Every week I find myself thinking "What a lucky bride to have THIS site for her wedding"...  we are so fortunate to have such a spectacular setting for our weddings throughout the year. This week, the Crabapples are... Full Post >

Daddy’s Girls

I was always a Daddy’s Girl, so it’s natural that I have a weakness for Fathers of the Bride on their little girls’ Big Day.  So touching… I had a wonderful surprise recently that absolutely made my day.  A very sweet and proud father of a bride who was married with us last August popped in to say hello, reminisce and thank us once again for being part of his family’s special day.  He instantly brought great cheer to a rainy afternoon.  Yes, I do have a fun job – I love being... Dee’s Bouquet

We have a Mac computer in our office that is full of fabulous photos compiled into slideshow.  I enjoy seeing what images pop up as I walk by -– always fun memories!  I particularly love the photo of Dee’s bouquet that our wonderful floral designer, Mary Stevens, did a couple of years ago.  Dee was a sweetheart, getting married the second time and loving every minute of the planning, which of course made it fun for us, too.  Dee told Mary that she especially wanted violets in her... Photographer Spotlight: Krystal Kast

I have had the pleasure recently of looking at a lot of Krystal Kast’s work, and she simply amazes me.  What a talent!  She has a great eye and always seems to capture the moment with the perfect mix of creative artistry, classic style and sensitivity to the occasion.  She has great skill at anticipating fun moments of the party, so her candid shots are wonderful.  And she’s just so lovely that you want to have her around all the time!  Take a look at some of her work: ... Thoughts on Wedding Photography

I have always loved good photography, especially wedding photography. When brides ask me about photography and photographers I find myself having lots to say…maybe more than they asked for!  Photography has such a big impact on the wedding day and will carry far into your future as the lasting record of your day's details.  I firmly believe your photography decision deserves extra care in selection and planning and may be the place that you may want to stretch your budget a bit. It is... Full Post >

The Daffodils are Blooming!

Greetings from the Fearrington Wedding office! Our last few weeks have been busy and exciting, meeting new brides and planning weddings for brides who are now old friends.  One of the special treats of my job is getting to walk around these gorgeous gardens every day with visitors and enjoy the changes that come daily, especially this time of year.  Perhaps my favorite promise of Spring is the ring of daffodils showing their smiling faces at the Willow Oaks site.  I look forward to those...
