The Wine of the Alps

Today, July 24th we will be hosting Trey Stephenson from Neal Rosenthal Imports (Mad Rose) for a dinner focused on the wines of Switzerland and the Valle d'Aosta of Italy. This will be a dinner featuring wines that rarely make it to North Carolina, wines so good that barely 2% of them are exported, the rest consumed by the in-the-know locals. Even more enticing are the grape varieties of Switzerland and the Valle d'Aosta, grapes like Petite Arvine, Amigne, Cornalin, and Humagne Rouge, grapes... Full Post >

Jessica & Ben

Jessica and Ben tied the knot on May 18th, 2014. They held their ceremony at Fearrington's Crab Apple Trees and celebrated their "I dos" in The Garden Terrace! How did y'all meet? Ben and I met as undergraduates at Duke University. We had attended a speaking event and struck up a conversation on the way back to campus. I was interested in Ben right away, but he was probably more interested in the substance of our conversation at the time. We decided to meet again to talk; our talks... Full Post >

Fearrington-Fullsteam Summer Beer

So with the coming of each season, we at Fearrington get excited to release the newest collaboration with Fullsteam Brewery.  This week we are releasing our Fearrington-Fullsteam Summer Beer, and it is: An American Berliner Weisse steeped with local Elderflower for lifted aromatics. If you recall from last Fall's beer, a Berliner Weisse was the traditional sour ale of Prussia, made with a wheat and barley base with a lower hop inclusion, it was referred to as the "Champagne of the... Rainy Days?

Starting in late June, and continuing all through the summer, the various species of Rain Lilies have begun their show in the Gardens at Fearrington. Whether Zephyranthes, Habranthes, or Cooperii, the rain lilies are all bulbous plants and part of the Amaryllis family. Tough, drought tolerant, and deer-proof, these beauties come in colors ranging from white to yellow, to brightest pink -- such as this clump located across from McIntyre's Books front entrance. The Gardeners have been adding... Full Post >
