Wine of the Week [May 27-June 02] ROSADO ESPECIAL

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, create Neo-Pointillist murals from torn pieces of old wine labels, we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering two wines per week that we will showcase here in the blog, and have available for tasting on Fridays from 6~7 p.m. The middle of the year is upon us.  The weather in June dances the... Of Wine, Goals, Dreams, and the Art of Getting Better

Like many Sommeliers around the country I have been studying and working towards a goal for many years. This goal is the certification of Master Sommelier, one of the most difficult professional certifications in the world. To achieve this goal one must first pass the Introductory Class, the Certified Sommelier Examination, the Advanced Sommelier Examination, and then be invited to sit the Master Sommelier exam. The examinations are in three parts, blind tasting, theory, and practical (which is... Full Post >

Intimate Wedding in Jenny’s Garden

Last night I had the pleasure of being a part of a very special wedding. With Jenny's garden and the setting sun as a back drop Elizabeth and Scott said "I do" with eight of their closest family and friends. The sweet ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour with champagne and hors d'oeuvres on the Sun Terrace and an intimate dinner in RB's Private Dining Room in the Fearrington House Restaurant. A beautiful evening for a very special couple! I wish only the best for them! Full Post >

Amazing Azaleas!

Yes, these gardens continue to amaze us.  Last week was the one week of the year that the azaleas in front of the Fearrington House bloom and they were especially spectacular this year. This particular location is not typically a wedding site, but how could you resist having a wedding here that week?  It’s so nice to be able to have the flexibility on these incredible grounds to change plans at the last minute and take full appreciation of the beauty that surrounds us. And Suzy and... Full Post >

Wine of the Week [May 20-May 26]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, create a kickstarter to fund an all expense paid, open-ended "Cultural Expedition" for myself to all of the great wine regions of the world (apparently I'm the only one who thinks that's a cause worth supporting...), we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering two wines per week that we will... Our "Ilene" dress shown here is available in white, stone, vintage, moss and rose. Decisions. Decisions! For more of... Full Post >

Double Vision

The ambiguity of a sophisticated farm is the source of inspiration that led painters Brenda Behr and Robert Rigsby to capture Fearrington in a series of oil paintings. The artists share a studio in downtown Goldsboro, North Carolina. Problem is, they’re never there. They also share a love of plein air painting. Started in France by the group best known as the Impressionists, plein air is French for open air. In the mid-nineteenth century, new technology introduced a means by which paint could... Spring Peonies by the Fire

It’s rare that you get to enjoy Spring's glorious peonies beside a roaring fire, but this weekend’s cool spell gave us such a nice opportunity.  When the temperature dropped and the clouds threatened, we quickly moved the garden ceremony into the Garden Terrace.  Tori and Zack got to celebrate a beautiful spring ceremony in front of a cozy wood fire.  It was lovely.  It’s such a relief it is that we don’t have to worry a bit about what the weather may bring to our outdoor... After Hours

The nice weather has got us Fearrington employees longing to lounge outside amongst the beautiful gardens or take a quick walk to check in on our Beltie friends!  When the weekend comes around we have also been taking full advantage of our beer garden Roost which offers a nice selection of beer, wine, small plates (Capps’ Pizza on Friday nights!) and live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Whether unwinding after a long meeting day, meeting up with clients or enjoying an evening... Wine of the Week [May 6-May 12]

Greetings fellow wine enthusiasts!  Regardless of the degree to which you identify with the term, whether you like to enjoy a glass every now and then, or, like me, go see a blockbuster movie (Ironman 3) and completely miss out on critical parts of the story because you were too busy trying to decipher who the producers were for the bottles of wine in the background, we here at The Goat would like to foster your love for the drink by offering two wines per week that we will showcase here in...
