Thoughts on Wedding Photography

I have always loved good photography, especially wedding photography. When brides ask me about photography and photographers I find myself having lots to say…maybe more than they asked for!  Photography has such a big impact on the wedding day and will carry far into your future as the lasting record of your day's details.  I firmly believe your photography decision deserves extra care in selection and planning and may be the place that you may want to stretch your budget a bit. The “New” Old Laundry Room

By now most of our guests have seen the updated Fearrington House Restaurant (renovations were complete in 2012), however, what some might not realize is that around the same time, The Old Laundry – one of our meeting rooms/private dining spaces – was also redecorated.  Perfect for a group of 35, the Old Laundry seats guests at round tables in a completely private location.  Dinner is provided by the Fearrington House and can be enjoyed as a plated meal or even as a buffet style.  It is... Meet Xavyer Burroughs, Sommelier at The Goat

One of the most exciting things about introducing the new Goat (now a deli, coffee shop and wine bar), is that we have had the pleasure of welcoming Xavyer Burroughs to the Fearrington Team.  Xavyer has worked and studied under Inez Ribustello at her and her husband Steven's fantastic Tarboro restaurant, On the Square. Risbustello is the former Wine Director for Windows on the World in New York and American Sommelier Society's third place winner for "Best Sommelier in the United States" in... Full Post >

Come Dine with Us

There is a show in England called "Come Dine With Us" that shows four strangers meeting for the first time to compete in a dinner “cook-off.”  Each participant plans and coordinates a dinner event for the other three guests, including the cooking of the meal, hosting that evening and selecting entertainment for the night.  While we don’t ask groups to plan an entire evening for each other, our Ready Steady Cook Challenge does require groups to create an appetizer and main entrée... The Daffodils are Blooming!

Greetings from the Fearrington Wedding office! Our last few weeks have been busy and exciting, meeting new brides and planning weddings for brides who are now old friends.  One of the special treats of my job is getting to walk around these gorgeous gardens every day with visitors and enjoy the changes that come daily, especially this time of year.  Perhaps my favorite promise of Spring is the ring of daffodils showing their smiling faces at the Willow Oaks site.  I look forward to those...
